Winchester Green Circle

With a combination of bike route designation and “share the road” signage, along with other traffic calming measures, this segment should be suitable for all cyclist skill levels. A “share the road” education campaign for both cyclists and motorists would increase awareness for both types of users and establish a model to safely implement shared use designation for other city streets.

A series of interpretive panel displays are planned, and funding has been received from the Winchester Rotary and the Winchester Council of Garden Clubs.  Benches and other amenities can be donated through the Green Circle Enhancement Fund administered by the Winchester Parks Foundation.

Other lands will be added to the Abrams Creek Wetlands Preserve and multi use trails constructed as part of the proffers associated with the Willow Run development in Frederick County.
